Armaan Malik sang the song "Bum Bum Bole" for the movie Taare Zameen Par in 2007 when he was only 10 years old. Since then, he has established himself as a playback singer and independent singer-songwriter. He has collaborated with various artists and recently performed with Ed Sheeran and Marshmello during their tours in India. During a recent visit to Bengaluru, Armaan shared his belief that he has turned his dreams into reality. He mentioned going through different phases in his singing career, from being a child singer to a Bollywood singer. He also revealed his future musical dreams, such as winning a Grammy, performing at Madison Square Garden, and collaborating with artists like Charlie Puth, Zedd, and Justin Bieber. Armaan emphasized the importance of being prepared for all opportunities as an artist.
He also discussed the state of the music industry, noting that while there is still quality music being produced, there is a trend towards creating viral hits rather than focusing on good songs. Armaan expressed concern about the misuse of technology to manipulate voices and create songs without artist consent. He called for laws to protect artists' rights and preserve the authenticity of music in the face of advancing technology.I find it amusing but also concerning that anyone can use my voice and texture to produce a song. Regulations should be in place to protect artists' rights and prevent technology from diluting the authenticity of music. I believe that traditional elements like real instruments and musicians should always be integral to the music creation process. Collaborations are a fantastic way to merge different worlds, fans, and styles. It’s essential to feel genuinely drawn to the artist you collaborate with. Working with AR Rahman was a dream realized. Independent music offers more creative freedom compared to playback singing, where you often have to adapt your style to fit the actor’s on-screen persona. Singing with Ed was a dream come true for me.Armaan Malik expressed that performing with Ed Sheeran was a humbling experience. Despite Ed Sheeran's worldwide fame, he remained remarkably humble and grounded. It is unusual to encounter someone of his level of success who has stayed so connected to reality. They shared many engaging conversations about music, including Indian music, and Ed expressed interest in collaborating with more Indian artists. Their bond grew into a close friendship, and Armaan now views Ed as a brother. Armaan Malik recently delivered a sold-out performance at Bharatiya City in Bengaluru.
